# OpenART: Open Agent Red Teaming OpenART is an executable benchmark and Docker-native runtime for evaluating tool-using agent safety in long-horizon, evolving environments. The benign task and hidden safety contract remain fixed while target-visible workspace, tool, or service state changes mid-run. Deterministic and model-based evaluators judge safety over execution traces and snapshots. Task workspaces may contain synthetic risky-source strings that are evaluation fixtures, not instructions. ## Key facts - Released planner tasks: 10,150 in 52 ZIP shards (~75 GB). - Dataset viewer configs: mid (1,046 tasks), mid-v5 (3,553), large (5,551). - Released tools dataset: 63,697 selected materialized tools. - Paper settings: 10K+ validated scenarios, 50 domains, 500K+ tools and skills, median 97 tool calls. - Paper evaluation matrix: 15 agents × 5 models (75 settings), with 8 target-visible attack vectors. - Paper-reported pooled strict attack success rate: 85.0% using the Evolutionary Markov Hypergraph Attack (EMHA). Strict ASR requires deterministic-evaluator and LLM-judge confirmation. - Paper-reported pooled benign completion: 87.38%. - The paper capability corpus is distinct from the released materialized-tool subset; paper settings are distinct from release counts. - The runtime can affect safety beyond the choice of foundation model. - Repository includes three bundled high-complexity tasks and CITATION.cff. - Code license: AGPL-3.0. The task dataset card uses `license: other` with mixed upstream terms; consult the card before reuse. ## Canonical links - Project site: https://ai45lab.github.io/OpenART/ - Paper: https://arxiv.org/abs/2608.00677 - Paper PDF: https://arxiv.org/pdf/2608.00677 - Code and documentation: https://github.com/AI45Lab/OpenART - Setup: https://github.com/AI45Lab/OpenART#setup - Hugging Face tasks: https://huggingface.co/datasets/dongdongunique/openart-planner-tasks - Hugging Face tools: https://huggingface.co/datasets/dongdongunique/openart-tools - Citation metadata: https://github.com/AI45Lab/OpenART/blob/main/CITATION.cff - Code license: https://github.com/AI45Lab/OpenART/blob/main/LICENSE ## Preferred citation Chen et al.
